FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about renting equipment on BaliKula.
1For Renters
What is BaliKula?
BaliKula is Bali's leading equipment rental marketplace. We connect renters with verified local hosts offering sound systems, nomad setups, sports gear, creative tools, and more.
How does renting work?
It's simple, in 3 steps:
1. Browse listings and choose your dates
2. Submit your request with your contact details (free, no commitment)
3. The host reviews your request and contacts you on WhatsApp to arrange handover and payment
How do I pay?
Payment is made in cash directly to the host at the time of equipment handover. BaliKula does not process any payments — the price is agreed between you and the host.
Is there a deposit?
Deposits are agreed directly between you and the host at the time of handover. BaliKula does not handle or require deposits — it's up to the host to set their own deposit policy.
What if the item is damaged?
Any damage is handled directly between you and the host. BaliKula is a matchmaking platform only — we do not provide insurance or mediation. We recommend inspecting equipment before handover and agreeing on clear terms with the host.
How do I receive and return the item?
Delivery and return arrangements are made via WhatsApp between you and the host. Options vary by listing — some hosts offer delivery to your location, others prefer pickup. Check the listing details for delivery information.
Can I cancel my request?
If your request is still pending (not yet confirmed by the host), it will automatically expire after 24 hours. If the host has already confirmed, contact them directly via WhatsApp to discuss cancellation.
How long before the host responds?
Hosts are encouraged to respond within 24 hours. If no response is received within that timeframe, the requested dates are automatically unblocked and you can submit a new request.
What currency are prices in?
All prices on BaliKula are displayed in IDR (Indonesian Rupiah). Payment is made in cash at handover.
Is there a minimum rental period?
The minimum rental duration is set by each host per listing. You can see the minimum duration on the listing page before making a request.
Can I rent for a few hours?
Some listings support hourly or half-day rentals — it depends on how the host has configured their listing. Look for the rental type indicator on the listing page.
What areas do you cover?
BaliKula currently covers the main areas of Bali: Canggu, Jimbaran, Kedungu, Kuta, Pererenan, Sanur, Seminyak, Seseh, Ubud, and Uluwatu. More areas may be added as we grow.
Is there insurance?
No. BaliKula is a matchmaking platform and does not provide insurance on rented equipment. We recommend discussing coverage and liability directly with the host before the rental.
Why do you need my phone number?
Your phone number is used by the host to contact you via WhatsApp after confirming your booking. Your contact details are only shared with the host once the booking is confirmed — never before.
2For Hosts
Is there a commission or fee?
No. BaliKula is completely free to use during our launch phase. There are no commissions, no listing fees, and no hidden charges.
How does the platform make money?
BaliKula is free during the launch period. In the future, we may introduce optional paid features for hosts, but core listing and booking functionality will remain accessible.
How do I get paid?
You receive payment in cash directly from the renter at the time of equipment handover. BaliKula does not process payments — the amount is agreed between you and the renter.
What if a renter damages my item?
We recommend agreeing on a deposit with the renter at the time of handover. BaliKula does not provide insurance or damage coverage — you are responsible for setting your own terms.
How do I verify a renter's identity?
We recommend checking the renter's ID at the time of handover. BaliKula shares the renter's name, email, and phone number with you after you confirm a booking.
How long does account verification take?
Account verification typically takes 24 to 48 hours. Our team reviews each new host account before activation to maintain platform quality.
How should I price my items?
Check similar listings on the platform for reference. Consider the condition, age, and market value of your equipment. Competitive pricing helps attract more renters.
What makes a good listing?
A great listing has:
- At least 4 quality photos showing the equipment from different angles
- A detailed, honest description
- Clear pricing and rental terms
- Up-to-date availability calendar
Can I list multiple identical items?
Yes! Use the "stock quantity" feature when creating your listing to indicate how many identical units you have available for rent.
How do I handle delivery?
You can set delivery zones and pricing directly in your listing settings. Options include free delivery, paid delivery per area, or pickup only.
Can I temporarily hide a listing?
Yes. You can unpublish a listing from your dashboard at any time. It will be saved as a draft and can be republished whenever you're ready.
What if I want to block dates for personal use?
Use the availability calendar in your listing editor to manually block any dates when your equipment is not available for rent.
What happens when I confirm a booking?
When you confirm a booking:
1. The renter's contact details (name, email, phone) are revealed to you
2. The requested dates are locked in your calendar
3. The renter receives a confirmation notification
4. You can then contact the renter via WhatsApp to arrange handover
